Thank-A-Vet: David Poirier
PORTLAND (WGME) – It’s time to honor an American hero in this week's Thank-A-Vet segment.
This week, we recognize Vietnam Veteran and Marine David Poirier of Biddeford.
His daughter Kim Therriault sent us a photo of him receiving a Silver Medal for Honorable Service.
She says he also earned the Purple Heart.
His daughter tells us he lost his leg just months before his 19th birthday during his tour of duty in Vietnam.
She says he went on to become a prosthetic technician, and taught new amputees how to use their prosthetics.
He himself learned to ski, ice skate and play hockey all on one leg.
From all of us here at CBS 13, thank you Mister Poirier for your service.
To have us honor your American hero, send us their picture, tell us who they are, when they served, and why they are so important in your life.
Send that information to our WGME Facebook page.
Keep watching us here at 7 to see your American hero honored on CBS 13.
