AAA expecting hundreds of accident calls during nor’easter

Travel during storm (WGME)

PORTLAND (WGME) -- With all the snow, you can bet there will be plenty of accidents.

One of the busiest places during a storm is the call center at AAA in Portland.

They take emergency calls from all over Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

They expect to take hundreds of accident calls over the next 24 hours.

"With the volume of snow we're expecting, a lot of times folks don't get their driveways cleaned out enough so there's vehicles stuck off the side of their driveways. Maybe somebody trying to get through the snowbank at the end of the driveway. You really got to clear out that snow out of the snowbank so you can get through safely,” Pat Moody, AAA, said.

Moody says he expects the largest number of calls to actually be Wednesday as more people head back to work.
