Bangor police investigating shooting
BANGOR, Maine (BDN) -- Bangor police are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon on Ohio Street that was reported to have occurred at a residence there.
Lt. Dave Bushey said that officers, detectives from the Bangor Police Department’s Central Investigations Division and evidence technicians were called to the area of 125 Ohio St. shortly after 3 p.m.
A tracking dog and the department’s Mobile Investigations Unit were brought to the scene, which is close to the intersection of Ohio Street and Highland Avenue. The mobile crime lab remained at the scene Sunday evening.
“Officers have confirmed the shooting. One victim has been transported to a local hospital and the scene remains active,” Bushey said, reading from a prepared statement. “We are currently unable to release the condition of the victim.”
Bangor resident Shannon Denbow said she did not hear or see what occurred but that a friend who lives near the crime scene told her that he heard a gunshot and then saw a person near a car outside the Ohio Street residence being loaded into a private vehicle.
Bushey said that preliminary information suggests that the public at large is not at risk.
Additional details will be released when they become available, he said.
