Community rallies behind teacher diagnosed with cancer
TURNER (WGME) – People in Turner are now rallying behind a popular teacher in town, suddenly diagnosed with cancer.
Just ten days ago, doctors found a massive tumor in his brain.
Pasquale Bifulco has been a beloved history teacher at Leavitt Area High School for two decades. Since the diagnosis, they've been flooded with calls and offers of help. For them, and their two young children.
Bifulco is now recovering at his Livermore home after having surgery to relieve some of the pressure the tumor was causing on his brain.
Doctors were able to remove some of the tumor, but the rest is inoperable, so they are looking for options to fight the disease.
The family says they have been overwhelmed with support from the community. A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $10,000. There’s an event this weekend at a local hall and the Leavitt Area High School is planning a fundraiser in the fall.
