BRUNSWICK (WGME) -- Crews are still searching for a Midcoast man after he fell off his boat nearly a week ago.

The search for Stephen Wines is now in its sixth day along the Androscoggin River.

Crews brought in more resources, including divers and a plane Thursday, but Wines’ family says while the search continues, they don’t want anyone else to end up in the same position.

From the air to the water, search crews covered every inch of the Androscoggin, searching for Stephen Wines.

Wines went missing on Friday, after Marine Patrol says he lost consciousness and fell off the boat he and his brother were fishing on.

They say his brother tried to save him, but couldn’t hold on to his body before rescuers spotted them.

Wines' friends and family have been out on the water every day in their own boats helping with the search, and have been urging everyone to be safe on the river and to travel in groups, so no one ends up in the same position as Stephen, who leaves behind a fiancé and young daughter.

Maine Marine Patrol says there were life jackets in the boat when this happened, but don’t believe Wines or his brother were wearing them.

With this nicer weather, they're urging everyone who be headed out in their own boat to take that precaution.
