Hillary Clinton opens new offices in Maine
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Politicians are continuing to try and sway Maine voters ahead of the Democratic and Republican caucus in Maine next month.
Thursday, Hillary Clinton opened new offices in Bangor and Portland.
The office on Lancaster Street in Portland is one of four offices the Clinton campaign is opening in Maine. With the Maine Democratic caucus just a little more than two weeks away supporters here are hoping to convince other Mainers to vote for their candidate.
There was a kickoff party for the office opening in Portland. There's another office in Bangor officially opened. The offices in Augusta and Lewiston will open this weekend.
After the opening celebration, volunteers plan to get right on the phones and continue canvassing neighborhoods to build support for their candidate. The Clinton campaign already has hundreds of volunteers across the state; these offices will now become home base.
As you may remember Democratic candidate for president and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has opened offices here in Maine. At this point no Republican candidate has done that. Although we did speak to the Maine Republican Party chairman today he tells us we should be seeing some very soon.
