Maine chefs, restaurants nominated for James Beard Awards
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Eight restaurants in Maine are nominated for the 2016 James Beard Awards.
Among the nominees are Chefs Mike Wiley and Andrew Taylor from Eventide Oyster Company in Portland. They are nominated for Best Chef in the Northeast.
Chefs from The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Francine in Camden and Suzuki's Sushi Bar in Rockland are also on the best chef list.
For the second year in a row, Cara Stadler from Tao Yuan restaurant in Brunswick is nominated for Rising Star of the Year. Stadler also operates Bao Bao Dumpling House in Portland.
Allagash Brewing Company is nominated in the outstanding wine, beer or spirits category.
The Honey Paw in Portland is on the list for Best New Restaurant and Fore Street in Portland is nominated for Outstanding Restaurant.
These are the semifinalists. The finalists will be announced March 15.
The awards will be handed out in April.
