Maine man facing drug charge after traffic stop
STRONG (WGME) -- The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing a drug charge after a traffic stop in Strong on Saturday.
Deputies say they stopped a vehicle for a defect on South Main Street around 8 p.m.
Maine State Police were called to help with the stop since there was a male passenger in the vehicle as well.
As a result of the stop and after receiving consent to search the driver’s vehicle, deputies say they found $274 in cash, a white powdery residue, and bags containing illegal drugs. The street value of the seized drugs was $2,000.
Deputies arrested and charged 20-year-old Michael Deming, of Strong, with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs.
He was taken to the Franklin County Jail and eventually released on $1,000 cash bail.
Deputies say other charges may be pending.
