PORTLAND (WGME) -- A team of doctors, nurses and lab workers from Uganda is in Maine, hoping to learn how to expand cancer care in their country.

It's a partnership between Mercy Hospital and the Ugandan hospital, made possible by a grant from the rotary club.

The rotary helped build a new hospital in Uganda, but it doesn't have a functioning mammography machine.

So Thursday, the team was also offered free mammograms.

The Ugandan team will spend three weeks in Maine.

Mercy Hospital staff previously went to Uganda, and says it is committed to helping improve cancer services there.
