Mild winter doesn't stop smelt fishing season
BOWDOINHAM (WGME) -- This winter hasn't been great for many ski areas and snowmobile trails, but a smelt camp owner in Bowdoinham says his season is going well.
Many of the huts at Jim's Smelt Camps in Bowdoinham are full. Right on the ice of the Cathance Tributary off of the Kennebec River, these camps are a great place for smelt fishing.
CBS 13 spoke to the owner here and he says he opened two weeks later than usual because of the milder winter and even had to pull the camps off at one point.
