Police talk to Falmouth dumpster diver accused of taking turkeys
FALMOUTH (WGME) – Falmouth police say they have talked to the man who took several turkeys from the dumpster behind the Falmouth Hannaford.
Police say the store had to dispose of 1,400 pounds of turkey, roughly 75-80 birds, because they accidentally defrosted.
They say a dumpster diver discovered the turkeys and filled his truck with several of them. The man later put it out on social media that there were free turkeys in the dumpster.
Hannaford learned what had happened when someone called the store asking the best way to cook a dumpster turkey. They did not want to press charges on the man who took the turkeys.
Falmouth police talked to the man, and say he will contact anyone who may have received a tainted bird.
