Searsmont man arrested after rollover crash
SEARSMONT (BDN) -- A Searsmont man faces charges after crashing a car and seriously injuring his passenger, according to Waldo County Sheriff Jeffrey Trafton.
Albert Rhodes, 46, was driving a Toyota sedan on New England Road in Searsmont when the car left the road and rolled over around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release.
The passenger, who police have not identified, was trapped inside the wreck and had to be removed by first responders. The passenger suffered severe injuries, including broken bones and internal bleeding, and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter, according to Trafton.
Deputies arrested Rhodes at the crash scene and took him to Waldo County Correctional Center, where he later posted $400 bail and was released. He faces charges of operating under the influence and driving to endanger.
The sheriff’s office alleges that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. More charges could be pending, as police continue to investigate and reconstruct the crash scene.
