WETUMPKA, Ala. (WEAR) - Communities outside Montgomery, Alabama, are mourning after a U.S. Air Force veteran, according to authorities, killed his wife and shot his three 12-year-old daughters.

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin told Channel 3 News Robert “Bob” Orsi killed his wife, Charlene, underneath a carport and then entered his home in Wetumpka and lined up his 12-year-old triplet daughters on the floor and shot them.

A 13-year-old daughter managed to escape to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

The sheriff said as Orsi doused his home with gasoline, two of the 12-year-olds managed to painfully walk their way to the front door without Orsi seeing them.

An Elmore County sheriff’s deputy was at the door to their surprise.

Orsi set the home on fire and retreated to the farthest end of the home and shot himself with a large-caliber handgun, the sheriff added.

At some point, the deputy returned to the home to render aid to the woman, but she was deceased.

According to documents, Orsi, his 44-year-old wife, a 13-year-old daughter, and a set of 12-year-old triplets lived in Navarre.

A church member told Channel 3 News Orsi served in the military in Northwest Florida and the family returned to the area approximately a month ago to visit.

According to information gathered, the Orsis were in the process of a divorce due to Bob Orsi’s alleged drug abuse, the Elmore County Sheriff's Office stated.

Court documents show Orsi’s wife filed for divorce two weeks ago on June 28.

The two surviving triplets are listed in stable condition. The sheriff said one must undergo more surgeries due to her injury.

A GoFundMe account has been set-up for the 13-year-old daughter. A memorial service will be held in Navarre on Monday.

The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting the autopsy results on Orsi.
