PORTLAND (WGME) – There's more theater to enjoy thanks to a rare partnership between two Maine theater companies.
"All Night Strut" is being performed right now at Portland Stage in downtown Portland, but it's actually put on by Maine State Music Theater, based in Brunswick.
The two theaters decided to partner when MSMT was looking for ways to extend their musical season.
They can't use Bowdoin's theater once classes begin in the fall, and Portland Stage doesn't start their season until late September, so for artistic director Curt Dale Clark, it was a no-brainer.
“They don't do musicals; we don't do plays; so together we combine to give both of our audiences a little something extra,” Clark said.
Maine State Music Theater already has plans to partner again next year and bring "Nunsense" to Portland Stage in early September.
Portland Stage's season kicks off on September 19.
"All Night Strut" runs through the end of the week, tickets are still available.
