PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Center for Wildlife has a new ambassador to help educate Mainers.
"Lucy" is a 3-month-old Eastern Screech Owl and will travel around with Lady Willow. Both owls came to the Center for Wildlife in York because they can't survive on their own in the wild. Lady Willow lost an eye when she was hit by a car. Lucy was domesticated by a family that tried to keep her as a pet. Therefore, she doesn't recognize danger in the wild.
Lucy and Lady Willow are just two of the animals you can see for yourself at the Center for Wildlife's 2018 open house, "Connect and Create with Wildlife." It's being held Sunday, September 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
