Danielle West has now been the permanent city manager in Portland for a little over a week now.
To say she has many challenges to deal with would be an understatement.
CBS13 spoke with West and asked her about the homelessness problem and rising property taxes.
As the deadline of housing asylum seekers in the Portland Expo draws near and it's looking like the emergency shelter project on Blueberry Road could be dead in the water, the city is facing a possible crisis.
"Currently, we are housing close to 1,200 people. Those are asylum seekers and people that are chronically homeless. That's a big number. We can't continue and haven't been taking in new people for some time now,” West said.
