Mal joined WGME/WPFO as a reporter and multimedia journalist in December 2020. He previously worked his way up to Investigation Team Lead, Weekend Anchor and Reporter/MMJ for WKBT News 8 Now (CBS) in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
He was reporting in America’s Dairyland, his home state, for three years.
Before that, Mal landed his first reporting position in Bemidji, Minnesota at Lakeland News in August 2016. He also lived in San Francisco for a year while working in PR/marketing for tech companies.
Mal has won multiple awards for his reporting and was nominated for a Boston/New England Regional EmmyAward for his reporting on hoax school shooting threat.
While Mal grew up outside Milwaukee, he is no stranger to New England. Mal graduated from Emerson College with a degree in Journalism with a double minor in Environmental Studies and Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
He’s excited to be closer to his partner’s family and friends from college scattered throughout Maine and Massachusetts. If not at the station, you can usually find him checking out local restaurants or breweries.
