AUGUSTA (WGME) -- An Augusta law firm says it’s filing a class action lawsuit this week on behalf of CMP customers.

Sumner Lipman, an attorney with Lipman & Katz, made the announcement Tuesday night.

A state investigation through the Public Utilities Commision discovered that 97,000 CMP customers were overcharged more than 50 percent on their bills. Another 200,000 customers were overcharged up to 50 percent.

Mark Levesque of Scarborough has been named the class representative.

The lawsuit will be filed in Cumberland County Superior Court Thursday at 1 p.m.
