BATH (WGME) – A Bath man has been sentenced to nearly three years behind bars for a drunk driving crash that nearly cost a woman her legs.
The crash happened in August 2021 on I-295 in Falmouth.
Then 28-year-old Brandon Johansen was driving the wrong way while intoxicated.
That's when prosecutors say his car collided with a car driven by then 50-year-old Jennifer Marrone of Portland, critically injuring her.
Marrone says she was told she might lose one leg and the foot on the other leg.
Thursday, a judge sentenced Johansen to 30 months behind bars on OUI and driving to endanger charges.
“That means a lot for me, it means a lot for my healing process of moving forward, that there's some accountability for what happened to me as well as the other women that night,” Marrone said. “It's time, it's beyond time.”
Marrone had two teenage passengers in her car. They had minor injuries.
Johansen wasn't seriously hurt.
A judge ordered him to begin his sentence immediately.
