BRUNSWICK (WGME) -- A girl scout troop in Brunswick is giving a "boost" to displaced children and teens.
Troop 74 is working to build "boost bags" to give to kids in foster care or similar programs, as well as those experiencing homelessness.
The troop says after they learned these children often carry their belongings in a garbage bag, they wanted to help.
They collected self-care items such as shampoo and toothbrushes.
They're also collecting more "comforting items" such as puzzles and books.
"We hope that children who are removed from their homes get these bags to make them feel safe and like someone cares," Siena Small of Troop 74 said.
"We feel for them, and we know that what they're going through is really hard, and we just know that they really need some help and they probably don't have all that they need, so to know that we are providing for them feels really good," Renata Joyce of Troop 74 said.
The troop is accepting donations through the end of March.
