‘Completely inappropriate,’ Collins responds to Trump’s controversial comments

Senator Collins (WGME)

AUBURN (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins stopped by an Auburn retirement home Friday morning to greet some of the residents.

Senator Collins says she met with leadership at the Schooner Estates to talk about ways to improve the lives of seniors in Maine.

While she was there, CBS 13 asked the Senator about a variety of issues, including her thoughts on President Donald Trump's controversial and vulgar comments on the DACA program.

Senator Collins says she doesn't agree with what the president said.

"The president’s comments, obviously, were completely inappropriate. He should not be denigrating the citizens of other countries. And it also doesn't help us come up with a bipartisan approach to immigration,” Senator Collins said.

Collins went on to say that the position those comments have put the president in are unfortunate.
