STANDISH (WGME) – Bonny Eagle High School was evacuated after reports of smoke in the building.

The call came in around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters from nearly all the surrounding towns responded.

Crews could be seen focusing on the roof of the high school.

They had a ladder truck extended up there as well.

Students were evacuated right away and brought over to the middle school.

They were then dismissed early at 11 a.m.

Parents say they got a text message saying there was an "incident" at the high school with no further detail, but many describe frantic texts from their kids saying they saw smoke.
