Saturday morning fire leaves at least three without a home

PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Portland Fire Department responded to a fire on Lincoln Street Saturday morning.

The fire took place Lincoln street between Forest Ave and Deering Ave around 9:30 AM. There were road closures in the area.

According to the landowner, the fire started on the second floor. Fire officials say the second floor is gone.

Fire officials say the landowner was the only one inside, but two cats died in the fire.

According to fire officials, the only injury was a firefighter who is expected to be okay.

The landowner said they believe the fire may have started from a cigarette, but investigators are still looking into the cause.
