AUGUSTA (WGME) -- A former Augusta man who threatened to kill a maintenance employee in his apartment building with a knife has been sentenced. However, he is expected to be released soon.
According to the Kennebec Journal, police arrested Paul Fay III in 2021 after Fay chased the victim with a knife at the former Edwards Inn on Water Street.
On Thursday, he was sentenced to five years with all but two suspended, but because he's been behind bars since his arrest in 2021, he's now less than two weeks away from completing the time.
He told a judge he has severe mental health disorders and agreed to plead no contest to get the help he needs.
