STANDISH (WGME) – The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says Good Samaritans pulled a 69-year-old woman out of burning car in Standish Thursday night before it became fully engulfed in flames.

It happened on Route 114 around 10:15 p.m.

Deputies say the area where 69-year-old Myrtle Tripp, of Farmington, crashed was closed for construction and there was a detour just before that onto Mosley Road

Deputies say Tripp drove through wooden barriers with orange signs marking a detour on that road and then struck a large concrete barrier.

The vehicle then pushed the barrier 100 feet further down Route 114.

Deputies say other drivers on scene were able to pull Tripp out of her vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.

Tripp was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
