PORTLAND (WGME) -- A strong storm is on its way to Maine Tuesday.
The weather is looking good for Monday with no weather issues if you plan to hit the roads. You can expect cloudy skies with seasonable highs in the lower 40s.
Other than rain or snow in Southern Maine Monday night, it should remain dry.
Snow will develop Tuesday morning.
A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for Southern Maine from Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.
Some dry air will try to work in early Tuesday morning, especially in central and eastern areas. This could limit any precipitation until late morning.
The snow will be heaviest from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 11p.m. It will slowly come to an end on Wednesday as snow showers.
Most of the area will see 5-10" of snow. Some higher totals expected away from the coast in Western Maine. This is where 8-12" of snow could accumulate.
Winds will be strong as well, gusting 40-55 mph Tuesday afternoon and night. The strongest wind will be felt along the coast. This will be enough to cause sporadic power outages.
Tuesday morning's commute will not be impacted too much. It's Tuesday evening's commute that will have a high impacts. This is something to prepare for if you plan to hit the road.
The sunshine returns on Thursday and we're dry Friday. Another possible storm is on the horizon Friday night into Saturday.
