RICHMOND, NH (WGME) -- Police say they arrested a man for driving under the influence in New Hampshire after he crashed into a utility pole.
New Hampshire State Police say that around 6:49pm Friday night, troopers and fire officials were dispatched to Fitzwilliam Road in Richmond for a single vehicle crash into a telephone pole.
Initial reports said that the pole was snapped in half, on top of the vehicle and that the top of the pole was on fire.
The single occupant of the vehicle, identified as Mark Allen, 64, of Richmond, was entrapped in the vehicle due to live wires down around the area and could not be extricated until the power to those wires was shut off.
Once the power to the wires was shut off, officials were able to remove Allen from the vehicle.
Allen showed indicators of impairment once outside the vehicle and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Allen was released on bail and has a scheduled court date on April 4th.
