Man killed after fire sweeps through camper in Oakland

OAKLAND (WGME) -- The State Fire Marshal's Office says a man died Tuesday night after fire swept through his small camper in Oakland.

Fire investigators say they believe the victim is 46-year-old William Halley.

Halley lived alone in the camper, which was parked in the driveway of a friend on Sawtelle Road. The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. by a neighbor.

His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for examination.

Investigators say they are attempting to determine the cause of the fire and are looking closely at the camper's propane heater.
