Man stabbed inside Lewiston barber shop, suspect arrested

Michael Barrucci (Androscoggin County Jail)

LEWISTON (WGME) -- A stabbing at a Lewiston barber shop is under investigation. Police say the suspect is in custody, but investigators were on scene all night Wednesday.

Police charged 23-year-old Michael Barrucci, of Otisfield, with elevated aggregated assault.

Police say it started Wednesday night when 35-year-old Rashad Robinson, of South Paris, was getting a haircut at the Major Cuts at 79 Chestnut Street.

Police say Barrucci went into the shop and stabbed Robinson in the chest and stomach.

Following the stabbing, police say Robinson staggered out

of the barber shop onto the sidewalk and collapsed.

The victim underwent emergency surgery at Central Maine Medical Center overnight. There no word on his condition Thursday morning.

Police say Barrucci is dating Robinson’s estranged wife, and she was inside the barbershop at the time.

Maine State Police say they are interviewing several witnesses to learn more about what exactly happened.
