Man who was shot during Sidney break-in sentenced to 20 years
SIDNEY (WGME) -- A man, who was shot after he broke into an elderly woman's home in Sidney, will spend at least 20 years behind bars.
A judge sentenced 23-year-old Dreaquan Foster, of Providence, Rhode Island, after he plead guilty to multiple charges.
Prosecutors say in March 2017, Foster stole a car in Rhode Island, and abandoned it on I-95 after running out of gas.
They say Foster then broke into the 84-year-old woman's home in Sidney.
That victim locked herself in a bedroom, and called her son who lives next door.
Police say when the son arrived, Foster hit him in the head with a blunt object.
The victim's son then shot Foster in the chest.
In court, Foster apologized, and said he didn't remember the attack because of drug use.
