Mother, daughter killed in Casco crash, man seriously injured
CASCO (WGME) -- Two people died on Route 302 in Casco on Tuesday.
Only one person made it out of that crash alive and is battling serious injuries to the head and leg.
A section of Route 302 was shut down for several hours.
Officials say around 4 p.m. Tuesday 53-year-old Jamie Mantz, of Bridgton, was driving a Jeep Liberty when she crossed the center line, striking a Tahoe driven by 26-year-old Austin Wood, of Naples.
Mantz’s mother, 80-year-old Carol Strom, was also in the Jeep. Both Mantz and Strom died in the crash.
Wood was taken to Maine Medical Center where authorities say he is in critical condition with serious head and leg injuries.
Officials say they’re working to determine why Mantz crossed the center line.
There is no indication that anyone was speeding, according to police.
The crash is under investigation.
