Police find cocaine in secret compartment following traffic stop in Brewer

BREWER (WGME) – Three men are facing drug trafficking charges after police say they found cocaine hidden in a secret compartment following a traffic stop in Brewer on Wednesday.

Police say an officer pulled a car over on Betton Street around 11:45 a.m. for a traffic violation. In addition to the traffic violation, police say the vehicle also had an expired registration, and the driver had a suspended license.

According to police, the officer suspected drug activity and called for a K-9 unit. The K-9 reportedly indicated that there were drugs in the vehicle.

Police say they searched the car and reportedly found more than 120 grams of cocaine hidden in a secret compartment. They also reportedly found more than $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

The three men inside the vehicle were then arrested. Police say they charged 31-year-old Brendy Flores of Pennsylvania, 33-year-old Dashawn Harrington of Bangor, and 34-year-old Trevell Colter of Bangor all with aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs.

The trio was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
