Man stabbed in chest, stomach in Lewiston barber shop

Police are investigating a stabbing that left two people hurt Wednesday night in Lewiston, and we're learning state police are on the scene. (WGME)

LEWISTON (WGME) -- A South Paris man was stabbed in the chest and stomach inside a Lewiston barber shop by a man police say is dating the victim's estranged wife.

The stabbing was reported at Major Cuts on Chestnut Street in Lewiston around 6 p.m. Rashad Robinson, 36,l was getting a haircut when police say he was stabbed by Michael Barrucci, 23, of Otisfield.

Robinson staggered out of the barber shop to the sidewalk and collapsed, according to police. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center and under went emergency surgery.

Barrucci was arrested on charges of elevated aggravated assault. Police said he is dating Robinson's estranged wife, who was also in the barber shop at the time of the attack.

Police blocked off Chestnut Street for hours Wednesday night, investigating the stabbing with the help of state police.

Along with monitoring Robinson's condition, police plan to conduct more interviews with people inside the barber shop at the time of the stabbing.
