AUGUSTA (WGME) – The nonprofit Portland Downtown celebrated its downtown workers Thursday.
They were invited to enjoy free drinks, raffles, music and games in Monument Square.
The items given away included tickets to see concerts, baseball games and more.
Portland Downtown says it's a way to say thank them for their service.
“We just want to let our downtown workers or downtown businesses know how much we appreciate them,” Portland Downtown Executive Director Cary Tyson said. “We know it’s about to get really busy, so we wanted to sort of lift them up before the season starts.”
Portland Downtown says it has been doing this for nearly two decades.
