Prospect man killed in home fire on Verona Island

VERONA ISLAND (WGME) -- A Prospect man was killed in a fire Wednesday at a home on Verona Island.

Investigators say the fire started around 6:45 p.m. at 322 East Side Road.

Two people, including the homeowner, were able to make it out of the house safely.

Authorities say 68-year-old Terrance Leach died in the fire.

The cause on the fire is under investigation.

Leach was staying at the home because his home in Prospect had burned down on Tuesday.

That fire was started because Leach was smoking while using a home oxygen tank.
