LEBANON (WGME) – State police say a skydiver is missing in Maine, after the man lost his parachute mid-jump.

CBS 13 has a crew right outside of Skydive New England in Lebanon, where Maine State Police, game wardens and forestry personnel are searching for a skydiving instructor who lost their parachute mid-jump,

State police say the search started around 2 p.m. Thursday, when a Skydive New England instructor and a student did a tandem jump, meaning they jumped together and were going to use the same parachute.

State police say the student landed safely and said the instructor fell shortly after jumping out of the plane.

Planes and helicopters are being used as officials continue to search for the missing man.
