Sanford man killed after car collides with school bus in Berwick
BERWICK (WGME) -- Police say a man was killed after his car collided with a school bus in Berwick Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 1:40 p.m. on Route 4.
Police say a Toyota Rav 4, driven by a 42-year-old Paula Hawker, of Sanford, rear-ended a turning Ford Fusion, driven by a 31-year-old Jeremiah Smith, of Sanford.
The Fusion was sent into the path of an oncoming school bus, driven by 75-year-old John Sullivan, of Kittery, according to police. The Fusion and the bus then collided.
Smith was pronounced dead at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital.
There were no students on the bus at the time of the crash, according to the superintendent of MSAD 35.
The crash remains under investigation.
