Strong winds take down trees, power lines in Turner
TURNER (WGME) – More than 1,000 customers are without power in Turner Friday night, after storms swept through the area.
Residents say it was more than a thunderstorm that rolled through town Friday evening.
According to CMP, more than 1,300 people are without power in Turner.
Residents say that it was a frightening combination of flash flooding and powerful winds that uprooted trees and brought down powerlines.
Dirt driveways eroded, entire backyards were leveled and residents dove for cover when the quick and powerful storm slammed the town.
Some residents say they saw funnel clouds, and believe a tornado or microburst may have touched down.
The National Weather Service says they will not be sending anyone to Turner to survey the damage right now.
