Teen indicted for manslaughter, aggravated OUI following Weld crash

    WELD (WGME) -- A teenager was indicted on manslaughter and aggravated OUI charges on Wednesday following a deadly crash in Franklin County last summer.

    According to the Sun Journal, 19-year-old Ethyn Buotte, of Rumford, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and speeding on May 31 when his vehicle hit a tree and rolled over on West Side Road in Weld.

    Maine State Police say 19-year-old Griffyn Smith, of Dixfield, a Dirigo High School graduate, died at the scene. Smith was a four-time state wrestling champion in high school.

    Buotte and a second passenger, a 17-year-old from Dixfield, were injured in the crash.
