Ten names added to Maine Murder Victims Memorial in Augusta
AUGUSTA (WGME) -- The Maine Murder Victims Memorial in Augusta has been rededicated.
The memorial is rededicated every year with new names.
According to the Bangor Daily News, 10 names were added to the list this year.
Maine's chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, a support group that helps surviving family members, hosted the ceremony.
Some people at the event say the monument helps bring a sense of closure.
"We don't have a spot in a cemetery for my daughter, we just have ashes, so this is the only place that I have where I have her name that will be here forever,” Vance Ginn said.
"It's hard because you know a lot of people don't know what we go through on a daily basis and the struggles that we go through,” Billie Jo Dick said.
The monument is located at Holy Family Cemetery in Augusta.
