PORTLAND (WGME) – Friday was Match Day at the University of New England.
Fourth-year medical students at UNE learned where they'll complete their medical residencies.
That residency is the final step for those students towards becoming physicians.
School officials say it’s the culmination of years of hard work.
“This means a lot, it's been a long road to get here,” UNE student Mark Jens said. “The last couple of years have been exhausting, and I'm able to be surrounded by friends and family, so this is a huge relief and this is just a big breath of fresh air for me."
Of the 162 students, 160 were placed in residency.
