Winslow man killed in Maine's first fatal moose crash of 2018

MEDWAY (WGME) -- A Winslow man was killed Friday night along I-95 when his car hit a moose, according to the Maine State Police.

Troopers said this is Maine's first fatal moose crash of the year.

According to investigators, 54 year old Donnie Wilcox was driving on I-95 in Medway around 10 p.m. Friday when he struck the bull moose in the soutbound lane. The impact threw the moose into the windshield and peeled back the car's roof.

A passerby drove up on the crash shortly after it happened, but there were no witnesses, according to State Police

Troopers said Wilcox died at the scene and the moose also was killed.
