Woman stabbed to death in front of her children in Lewiston
LEWISTON (WGME) -- A Lewiston woman died after being stabbed Sunday morning in front of her children in Lewiston.
The stabbing happened in the area of Sabattus Street and Oak Street. It was reported around 10 a.m.
State police said Kimberly Dobbie, 48, was stabbed in front of a laundromat with her six and eight-year-old children nearby.
Dobbie lived at Hope Haven in Lewiston. She died early Sunday afternoon at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Witnesses told police a man tackled the assailant until Lewiston Police arrived on scene.
The suspect is being questioned. He was hospitalized after reporting chest pains.
No charges have been filed, and police have not said what precipitated the stabbing.
Dobbie had just started a load of laundry and went outside with her children when the assault took place.
An autopsy will likely take place on Monday.
