ROCKLAND (WGME) -- Rescue crews say they helped four fishermen to safety off the coast of Rockland Wednesday.
The Coast Guard says the captain of the Aaron & Melissa II radioed for help, saying his 76-foot fishing vessel was taking on water. The fishermen were forced to abandon the ship.
All four fishermen were hoisted into a Coast Guard helicopter and then taken to the Brunswick Executive Airport to be checked out.
They are said to be in good condition.
The Coast Guard says they were experiencing 20-foot seas, 30-knot winds, and the water temperature was 50 degrees.
