Wrestling fans flock to Lewiston for Ring of Honor
LEWISTON (WGME) -- Anxious wrestling fans filled the lobby of Androscoggin Bank Colisee, ready to catch some of the best in the business battle it out in the ring.
Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling made their first stop of the annual Global Wars tour in Lewiston.
“So pumped for this,” Portland resident Chad Pennell said. “I've been waiting all month for this to come here and I'm super excited to be here tonight.”
CBS 13 caught up with one of Ring of Honor's top titleholders, Jeff Cobb, the Television Champion.
“I won this back in September of this year in Las Vegas and I’ve held it since,” Cobb said. “No one's been able to beat me ever.
Cobb says performing in the ring is a dream come true, with once in a life time experiences.
“I don’t think I would be in Lewiston, Maine if it wasn’t for wrestling,” Cobb said. “And now I get to be here and the people we've interacted with are super cool and awesome I'm having a blast!”
Six-man champions, The Kingdom, have special ties to the New England area.
The group's title was up for grabs Wednesday night.
They may not need good wishes, but fans sure lucked out Wednesday night with autographs, photo-ops and an action-packed show.
