Sam Read started at CBS13 in February of 2017 originally as a multi-media journalist for "Good Day Maine” but has since transition to the CBS 13/ FOX 23 night team.

Sam traded in her flip flops for snow boots. Prior to her starting at WGME she spent two years in Panama City Beach, Florida, where she reported for the NBC affiliate WJHG. During her first year of reporting she was awarded first place for "Best Hard News Feature" from the Florida Associate Press.

In 2017 she was awarded three first place awards by the Associated Press for “General assignment”, “Continuing Coverage” and “Best Sports Feature.”

Before heading to Florida, Sam spent a year working behind the scenes at WHDH in Boston.

Originally, Sam hails from Westerly, Rhode Island. In 2013 she graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts where she completed six internships at news stations all over New England.

Sam enjoys trying new things, outdoor activities, and rooting for her New York Giants.

She is thrilled to be back in New England and excited to make Maine her new home.
